The new field is working out great, the 3 runway set up allows for having the designated runway into the wind and with the north facing pilot stations, we are able to keep the sun at your back. For 2008 the camping area will be moved closer to the field. (click to enlarge photo).

The GMF field is located 1.7km (1 mile) west of the Town of Gimli on Minerva Road (Rd 109N). GPS coordinates 97:02:38W, 50:36:38N

What You Need To Bring

For insurance purposes, everyone flying at GMF must a current member of MAAC or AMA. MAAC memberships can be purchased at GMF.

Please label the front of your TX or TX box (check the example) with your name and channel #, this makes the TX impound work easier.

Registration

Model Fest Group Inc. has moved all operations to the Model Fest site therefore, online registration will no longer be availble.

Registration will continue at the Field Starting Friday August 15...

Flying Schedule

Monday to Wednesday – flyers are welcome to come early and fly at the field.

Thursday – open flying, tent and additional fencing set up during the day.

Friday – 1st day of GMF, open flying, 8:00am to dusk! Campfire and hangar flying well into the night!

Saturday – open flying, 8:00am to dusk! Feel free to sign up Sunday’s airshow, all types of model are need to fill the 3 hour program. "Whole Hog Pig Roast" served for supper ($10.00 cost). Campfire and hangar flying well into the night!

Sunday - open flying, 8:00am to noon.

Airshow briefing at noon.

Airshow from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.

Post airshow spectator visits from 3:30pm to 4:00pm

Open flying 5:00pm to dusk!

Free Un-serviced Camping on Site

Un-serviced camping is free for registered pilots, others are asked to make a camping donation to the flying field improvement fund. There will be portable toilets and a water tanker on site from Friday to Sunday. The water is for washing only.

Pilot Prizes

All pilots registering receive a ticket for the pilot prize draws.

Concession

The Gimli Kiwanis Club sets up their mobile kitchen trailer and prepares delicious hot dogs, smokie dogs, burgers, and perogies from 9:00am to 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Also there are may great places to eat in Gimli, town is only a couple of miles from the flying site.

Whole Hog Pig Roast

NEW this year at 5:00pm Saturday evening, the Gimli Kiwanis Club will prepare a delicious whole hog pig roast supper. Pig roast tickets are $10.00 per person and can be purchased at the GMF field. Limited number of tickets available. Get your tickets early...
